Dune to Rakis The story telling is, without saying, mesmerizing. I read them all for the third time on Kindle and it was even better than before. I read it in the past and much was lost on me. I read it now and, I must say, Herbert is 100% correct. The present affects your past. When I read it again in the future under a lamp of unknown and unguessed qualities how will I interpret his words then? You get out of this final chapter what you have to put into it.Spoiler Alert!!!This time around and, after reading his son's collaborations, I especially enjoyed the dropped hints that Holtzman was not the originator of the Holtzman equations. In the text itself he demonstrates that the written word of history cannot be relied upon. Brilliant.The second thing I noticed is the prediction of the Cycle of Government. Rebels, Entrenched power, Bureaucracy, Aristocracy, and finally: Oppression to maintain the status quo. It is interesting that this seems to be happening now. Or already has happened (again). Interesting Times.While this work it much more "cerebral" than Heretics, It winds up the Old Empire, the Golden Path, and the players of the finite game.All the crazy Atredies Heretics with their wild Siona genes going freaking wild in a infinite Universe. Unleashed. Finally.Sort of leaves you wanting more.A Deep Revelation A challenge to read but nonetheless an astonishing revelation into the mind of Frank Herbert. An old story freshly told in New world: man vs woman and who ultimately wins - those responsible for survival of the species, while waiting for 'humans' to mature, and the sacrifices they make and endure. Brilliantly ending this series honoring the woman who taught him all he needed to know to write such a series!😊IMHO

Funny and relatable Funny and relatable! When my doctor told me to go gluten-free because of thyroid issues, I looked at her like she was nuts. Then I hopped onto amazon and looked up books. As soon as I saw this title, I knew this would be the book for me. Going gluten-free is not easy, but then again, neither are the consequences of eating gluten and the author does not sugar-coat anything. I kind of wish she was my friend because this book really helped me deal with being GF.No pictures, uses sugar in recipes I bought it as a gift for my boss who's gluten-free. She returned it to me because of the following reasons that I agree with:- no pictures! This book is so not meant for visual people. People don't absorb and learn the same way so this was a major setback.- she uses sugar in her recipes. This is a big reason the book was not accepted- the hardcover page quality is low. It didn't give me any pleasure to sift through the pages I was expecting a much higher quality paper that's nice to breeze through.This will be my final attempt at trying to find a gift for someone who is gluten-free. This purchase experience tells me we are far from making this widely palatable.Love It! I love this! The author voiced everything I have been thinking since I was diagnosed with celiac disease! She made fun a sucky situation and still made you realize how important it is to eat right and take care of yourself. I am forever changed by reading this! I have recommended this to anyone and everyone I come across that has issues with gluten.

Great inspiration for the water color enthusiast!Water colors has intimidated me and fascinated me. But this book makes things feel more reachable. Although it does not give specific techniques on how to paint with water colors (strokes, brushes to use) if does give you a fantastic array of color combinations that will make you want to immediately get started.The author takes a great deal of time to explain color and what works together. Then she has short sections devoted to different color palettes/combinations and the colors that look good together as well as two examples in each section. So you you a good feel for what you might want to try. What I really liked are the color combinations that I never would have thought would go together.This book made me think of using color in a totally and exciting new way. If you are looking for inspiration or just love the vibrancy of colors around you this book is sure to please!

She also holds the women’s self-supported FKT on the Appalachian Trail (2015) with a time of 54 days, 7 hours, 48 minutes. An ultramarathon runner, she has completed six 100-mile races since August 2011 as well as dozens of 50 km and 50-mile events. Compelling story of struggle and achievement In spite of purchasing hundreds of things from Amazon this is the first time I felt the urge to write a review. The grit needed to hike the Pacific Crest Trail in record time is voiced in Anish's memoir. She tells the story of overcoming personal struggles as well as the challenges of the trail.Loved this book but it’s way too short I’ve been reading a lot of through hike books lately, craving adventure from the comfort of my couch. I’ve also been inspired to start hiking and I’m thinking about trying backpacking. I loved the journey that Anish undertook and her incredible devotion and commitment to the trail. I’m so impressed with the records that she holds. Her journey, her writing, was all top notch – five stars. I knocked one star off this review only because the book is only 200 pages long. It left me wanting much more.The best PCT book yet! Captivating. Inspiring. Raw, authentic and moments of serious pain. I couldn’t put it down - a few sleepless nights to the finish line of the book, like a thru hiker in training!

Book describes life in big law in common sense, fun, and sarcastic way. This is one of funniest and (maybe sadly) honest writings on working in this line of work. When starting my new job, I thought it’d be worthwhile to read something about my career to adjust my expectations and know what the demands of my career are.First, the book is quite concise, which is nice because I did not want to spend weeks reading about my job, while I actually have to do my job.Second, the writing is fun. The author clearly intended this to be a fun take on this profession and he gets it done.Third, the advice is useful and pragmatic. While there was nothing earth-shattering, I thought it was nice to see things from a partner’s perspective. Now that I’ve done some of the mistakes the author warns about, I can say that he’s absolutely right.In any case, it’s a quick, fun, sadly true read on life in big law and worth reading.Witty and useful I was assigned this book for a law course and so far it is hilarious, entertaining, and useful. The book is written in a way of what a lawyer-mentor-boss wants to tell a new associate and what he or she is really thinking. One of my favorites was about how when putting the word “draft” on a document, the narrator says this is an inside joke because he or she expects the document to be perfect. While this may not be accurate in every legal workplace it is still helpful in reminding associates how law firm partners often think.An absolute MUST READ for every young attorney On the inside cover of this book, one of the reviewers wrote: "This is the only book I've ever read that I wish had been longer." I could not agree more. In just 135 pages, this book provides very practical, and often times, humorous, advice on how to succeed in the first few years of practicing law. Mark Herrmann tells it like it is. No B.S. From basic tips on persuasive writing techniques to advice on how to build a practice, this book has it all. I will keep it near my desk for the rest of my career. In my opinion, every young attorney should read this book - especially those working in firms that represent large companies. I will recommend it to new associates every year. 5 out of 5 stars.
